Our Story

In the heart of picturesque Sciacca, a story of tradition and passion for the sea comes to life through the generations of the Cottone family. It dates back to the end of the 19th century when Gregorio Cottone laid the foundations of our family as a fisherman, sailing the waves of the Mediterranean with skill and dedication. It was he who charted the path that would shape our destiny.

As the years passed, the baton passed to his son Carlo, who continued the indissoluble bond with the sea, inheriting his father's tireless spirit. In 1953, the young Pasquale, at just nine years old, began to join his father on fishing boats, learning the secrets of the trade from a young age.

But fate had a journey beyond the horizon in store for Pasquale. In 1969, immediately after getting married, he decided to move to America with his beloved wife Rosa. It was there, in Gloucester, Massachusetts, that their three children were born: Carlo, Accursio and Erina.

Despite the distances, the call of the sea and family roots was felt. In 1978, Pasquale returned to Sciacca with his entire family, purchasing a new fishing boat, the "Papa Carlo", a symbol of continuity and determination.

In the following years, his sons Carlo and Accursio joined their father, proudly carrying on the family tradition. In 2019, a new chapter opened with the purchase of the fishing vessel "Nuova Luna D'argento", which continues to ply the crystalline waters of Sciacca today, bringing on board the precious treasure of the sea.

But the history of the Cottone family is not limited to the waves but extends to the mainland. In March 2023, the opening of "La Bottega del Pesce" in Sciacca marked another important milestone, offering the local community the privilege of enjoying fresh fish directly from the fishing boat.
